About Us
Sean Grady, Lily Gustafson, and Julianna Harvey
Hello everyone, we are a group of students who attend Suffolk University in Boston, MA. We are on your computer screen because we have chosen to take on the research of food waste, littering, and recycling in the city of Boston. We want to make an impact on the city in a positive way by influencing other students to follow our way of not littering and being smart about food waste and what to recycle.
Our Story
This all came together by wanting to take a summer class to start school with a fresh mind that's more familiar and experienced with writing. This summer class is a free program and has expanded our knowledge to do more such as helping students and people living in the city of Boston. In our class, we researched and read great articles that talked about being green. What is being green, and why is it important? Being green is doing everything it takes to keep the environment healthy and practice responsible decisions that affect your lifestyle in a positive way on our Earth. Our plan of action in solving the many problems affecting the environment is to create a website that informs people of all ages to be aware and concerned for our planet. We have researched and found many sources including websites, databases, magazines, and newspapers. So far, our research has expanded our knowledge on food waste, recycling, and littering to now solve the problem. We came together as a group and discussed possible solutions such as making it mandatory to have a recycle dumpster next to all trash dumpsters for businesses and stores around the Boston area. This can be effective with schools as well, having a recycle bin in every classroom should be enforced and introduced every year so students recognize it and use it. The ideal audience is students in college and people living in the city of Boston. We want to make a positive change going into our freshman year and help make Suffolk University one of the best environmentally friendly schools in the Boston/Massachusetts area.
